Gruppo Vercelli at FOODEX Japan 2017

20 March 2017

Gian Luca Vercelli, CEO of Vercelli Spa says: “It is a very important event for our company and for all the Italian food industry if we consider that the Italian Pavilion, with more than 1.500 mq and more than 90 Italian companies, is one of the landmarks for the wealth and the quality of products”.
After 15 years of import ban on beef from Italy, referring to an alleged risk of Bovine Spongiform  Encephalopathy  (BSE) in Europe and at the end of wearing negotiations, the bilateral agreement was reached a few months ago: Japan lifts ban on imports of Italian beef.
Gian Luca Vercelli argues: “It’s a very interesting market, which has lifted its 15-year embargo on Italian beef, following earlier market openings to beef from other EU member states.
We are equipped, devoting specific investments in recent months, to meet the Japanese standards, which require individual traceability, not only pieces of meat, but the traceability of all the offal. We are ready with products that are innovative for Italy too: in addition to traditional veal cuts for the restaurants, we are proposing the innovative “Ready in the bag”. Italian veal cuts, which are ready to cook in the traditional oven: Roasts, stews, ossobuco, veal shanks without being a chef”.
